“Somewhere along the way, we must learn that there is nothing greater than to do something for others.” Martin Luther King Jr.

This past week our Hearts admins have been on vacation, we were rethinking, regrouping, and wondering how we were going to get enough supplies out to our homeless friends, you see our 1996 Dodge vans air quit working, and we were getting soaked from the heat riding a 100 miles to, around the camps, and back home in the Alabama sun.

It really wasn’t the vacation you dream of, we had a huge burden on our shoulders, how could we keep doing our ministry, how could we reach out to our friends.

We announced to our members of our Facebook group Hearts For Homeless, we would be gone all week, and what happened next left us speechless.

Our members took control of the room, they talked, they worked out solutions, they were steadfast and determined that we were going to get another van to work with.

They spread the word with friends, family, anyone who would listen, Hearts member Julie set up a GoFundMe account, and others donated through our PayPal account, $5.00. $10.00, $100.00 at a time, each morning Karen, one of our members, would tell everyone their daily total, and they would keep going and going.

One of our other members, Marsha told me she was going to call a friend about us. She did, then he and I talked by phone, later that day he called and said you have a van, bought and paid for, even though we didn’t have the money to buy it yet, he believed!

Our members raised $4,000.00 to buy this van, after the gentleman I spoke with was able to secure us a huge discount.

We picked our 2013 Ford Transit Connect van up on Tuesday, Angie named her Abigail, the meaning of her name is Fathers Joy, our aim is to spread our Fathers Joy among our friends in this perfect van.

To our members to say we love you is not enough, there are no words to describe how we feel about you, about your love for our friends, and our mighty God. You could have said do your best we will understand, but you stepped up and let your hearts overflow working, praying and giving.

With all of this happening the way it has, there is no doubt that God has  you and Angie, you and Richard, and you and I, right where we belong on this journey together reaching out to the invisible people…

We Believe

The Forgotten Shall Be Forgotten No More
