Hunger Waits For No One

This week our great friend Ciera, is going to be our guest chef in preparing our friends hot meals, when she posted on her Facebook page she said, “Hunger Waits For No One.”

That stuck with me because I know exactly the meaning. and know from being in the camps that it is a true and overwhelming statement.

I have seen some open cans of soup, and eat it out of the can cold, I’ve seen some act as if they haven’t eaten in days.

When we take hot plates out on Wednesday’s we have one camp of people who sit down at the end of the trail and begin eating right away. You don’t see them leave anything on their plate, they are not like so many of us, who eat what we want and toss the rest away.

These friends humble us, the funny thing is they think we are blessing them, in all honesty they bless us. These are the people God would have us all reach out to, to minister to, to bring closer to Him.

This week our friends will enjoy chicken spaghetti, green beans, garlic bread, chocolate chip cookies, and powerade.

The invisible people of the woods will take their plates, thank us, eat it quickly, and then disappear back into their world, wondering if there will be a meal the next day.

God reminds us…

“But when you give a feast, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, and you will be blessed, because they cannot repay you. For you will be repaid at the resurrection of the just.” Luke 14:13-14

  1. What a true minister to cook for all those a hot meal. Things we take for granted.
